Physical Activity

Physical Activity at St. Peter’s National School

We aim to maximise all opportunities for physical activity at school. The children get out to play in the yard as much as possible, but on days when bad weather prevents outdoor play, all teachers include fun physical activities in the classroom.

  • Regular physical activity should be part of your lifestyle. Being active for at least 30 minutes on 5 days of the week can help us to be healthier in both body and mind.
  • Children and youths should be active for at least 60 minutes every day.

  • Prolongs independence as we get older
  • Reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • Improved self-esteem and self-image
  • Reduces blood pressure and cholesterol levels
  • Physically active play develops motor and social skills, intellectual capacities and concepts, and creativity.
