Letter from Principal – 23/10/2020

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

As per the holiday schedule the school will be closed for mid-term from Monday, October 26th 2020 until Friday 30th 2020 (inclusive).

While it has been an extremely busy half term it is a great relief that we have all reached this point safely.  It is brilliant to have the children back in school and they deserve great praise for being so cheerful, well behaved and co-operative.  They have taken to all the new protocols without difficulty and there is a great sense of calm among them.  Our staff have put in trojan work making sure that the children are learning in classrooms that are very different to what we were used to, adapting to new ways of teaching and ensuring that everyone is safe.  Our parent body have also given us tremendous support enabling us to remain open.  Children are dropped off/collected promptly and parents are being incredibly careful keeping children who are unwell at home in case illness is spread.

In the interests of everyone in our school keeping everyone safe and assisting us to remain open we would remind all parents:

  • Not to congregate unnecessarily at the school gates when dropping/collecting children.
  • Maintain social distancing in the yard.
  • Please wear a mask on school grounds

Finally, while this term has been very demanding we thank everyone in our school community for their assistance, co-operation, and diligence in ensuring that we are all back at school and remain safe. We trust that everyone has a safe and enjoyable mid-term, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school refreshed and relaxed after a well-deserved break.

I will be sending home schoolbooks with the children this week. Please understand that we are expecting the school to reopen as normal on 2nd November. Sending books home is just a precautionary measure. Please do not use these books unless requested to do so by the school. If these books need to be used, please do not go ahead in any of the workbooks and only complete pages assigned by the teacher to avoid all the children being on different pages. It is important that all books are brought back after the break.

Stay safe and stay well.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Martine Doherty

Principal
